A study was taken by the Industrial Psychiatry Journal, in which they found that 34% of people over the age of 65 admit to being lonely most of the time. They reported "The health and well-being of older adults is affected by the level of social activity and the mood states." So, it is extremely important that the elderly do not feel lonely. Liz Seegert writes "a variety of factors can affect the ability of older adults to engage with the outside world such as: mobility problems, no longer can drive, live in rural areas, have limited transportation options, experience frailty, are retired, experience ageism, and have a lack of opportunities to participate in the community." This is why it is crucial to bring a little more happiness into the older generation's lives.
